AN ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT TO BENEFIT THE FAMILIES OF
LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE.

About Us

H.E.R.O.E.S. (Honor Every Responsible Officer’s Eternal Sacrifice), Inc. is a non-profit, charitable organization serving the Washington metropolitan area. HEROES, Inc. provides financial aid and professional counsel to the surviving family members of law enforcement officers and firefighters who have been killed in the line of duty. HEROES, Inc. was chartered in Washington, D.C. in 1964 and has quietly served the needs of dependent children of HEROES since that time. The Charitable Registration Certificate Number is 6-070398 and the IRS Number is 526057916. The members of HEROES, Inc. do not seek any publicity for their work and do not divulge the specific needs of the families they support. Each situation is unique and HEROES, Inc. tailors its response to the specific needs of the family that is so suddenly faced with the horror of losing an important member of their family. Among the services and support that is provided by HEROES, Inc. is the guarantee of an all-expense paid educational scholarship to allow all dependent children the opportunity to attend college.

This is an opportunity by all law enforcement officers and firefighters to show our support and thanks to HEROES Inc., for all the support they provide the families of those officers and firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We hope that you will participate in this most worthwhile charity.

HEROES, Inc. will never forget the ultimate sacrifice that each of the 195 officers and firefighters have made. Each summer, at Christmas and on his/her birthday, each dependent child receives a check from HEROES, Inc. as a way of saying "we remember."

Leonard B. "Bud" Doggett

The Founder and Chairman of the Board of HEROES, Inc., Leonard B. "Bud" Doggett, was known to many as Mr. "D". Mr. Doggett's legacy of a personal standard of commitment, participation and love for the organization will go forever unchallenged. He daily honored the sacrifice of each law enforcement officer and firefighter whose names appear on the HEROES, Inc. Roll of Honor. His dedication to the welfare of the survivors of these fallen HEROES, more than 200 families, set an example unequaled in depth. His pledge to make available office space and absorb all overhead and staffing expenses enabled HEROES to mature and provide services and scholarships at a level he could not have imagined possible when it first began in 1964. Bud Doggett passed away on August 13, 2008. We celebrate his life and his extraordinary devotion with a pledge to continue his promise to these families whose lives have been devastated by tragedy.
